    Nan Gallagher has devoted her career exclusively to the advocacy of healthcare professionals and entities. An accomplished healthcare litigation and administrative attorney, she focuses her practice on licensing, regulatory and credentialing matters in New Jersey and New York.

    Ms. Gallagher is a nationally recognized authority on groundbreaking healthcare topics, sought after for her dedicated focus on often controversial pro-physician platforms. In addition to various medical societies, she serves as General Counsel to the Professional Assistance Program of New Jersey & the Medical Staffs of Morristown Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center, & CarePoint Hoboken University Medical Center.

    Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Gallagher was awarded a US Presidential Fellowship from President Bill Clinton to study law abroad at La Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Fordham University, with a double-major in English and Spanish. After earning her JD from New York Law School, she served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Hon. Mahlon L. Fast, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, Civil Division.

    Ms. Gallagher is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. In 2017 and 2018, she was recognized as a SuperLawyer®* both nationally and in New Jersey in the field of healthcare and has received the Client’s Choice Award  for excellence in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the highly regarded attorney rating website, AVVO.com*.

    About the Speakers

    Amanda Townsend, Healthcare Consultant, ALT Insight

    Amanda Townsend, CMPE, has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and practice management. She has served as the CEO of a private practice and in practice management roles in a hospital based practice. She now works as a Practice Operations Healthcare Consultant with ALT Insight. She is a board certified member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives.




    Andrew B. Wilson, Attorney, Morris James LLP

    Andrew B. Wilson is an attorney and legislative specialist in Morris James' Health Care Industry and Government Relations Groups. Andrew works on a range of healthcare issues  assisting clinicians, practices, and other entities through licensing questions, regulatory compliance, and how to innovate using tools such as telehealth. 

    After graduating with his JD from Albany Law School in 2010, Andrew worked as Counsel and Policy Analyst to members of the New York State Senate. He produced legislation, committee reports, and staffed press conferences on a weekly basis, addressing time-sensitive public policy issues. He also served as Counsel to the Senate Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.

    Todd Pittman, Administrator, Alliance Urology Specialists

    Todd Pittman, CMPE, is the Administrator of Alliance Urology Specialists in Greensboro, NC and a board certified member of the American College of Practice Executives.  Over the past 24 years Todd has held positions in private primary care and specialty practices, hospital owed specialty practices, hospital administration, corporate facility management and healthcare consulting.  Todd has also held numerous leadership positions in the state and local MGMA (Medical Group Management Association) chapters, serving as the President of the state and 3 local chapters.  Todd served as the NCMGMA Conference Chair for over 6 years, NC Chair of the Tri-State Conference (NC, SC & GA) over an 11-year period, and most recently returned to Chair the Joint Conference with the NC Medical Society and Chair the NC Conference Committee again.  Additionally, he has served on the MGMA Annual Conference Committee and now serves as a State Liaison for MGMA.  Lastly, Todd is in his 5th year as Race Director for the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk-Greensboro 5K.

    How to Register for Computerized Exams

    1. Exam Eligibility - Before registering for the exams, you must be an active participant in the ACMPE program (Your application, application fee and documentation of a minimum of two years' experience in an ambulatory or other healthcare management position and a minimum of six months in a supervisory role must be approved.) For additional information, please read more here.
    2. Exam registration fees - You can pay your exam registration fees through the MGMA online store or by calling toll-free 877.275.6462, ext. 1888.
    3. Confirmation of eligibility - You will receive a Notice to Schedule email five business days after the exam registration window closes. You will receive one Notice to Schedule per exam. This will include your personal user name and password allowing you to make your exam appointment at a designated testing facility.
    4. Select exam date, time and location - With your user name and password in hand, you must follow the link provided to locate your specific exam site and schedule a date and time to take the exams. Please note that you must book one appointment per exam. If you have registered for both exams, you will need to book two appointments.  Exam site hours vary by location. You will be able to choose any available appointment that works for you during the exam window. Please note that exam appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so scheduling early will help ensure the best choice of appointment time and location. Directions to your selected exam site, procedures and other information will be provided to you in an email from our testing vendor, Castle. Please note, we only use Castle’s US locations.


    PLEASE NOTE: The ACMPE continuing education requirement has changed effective January 1, 2019. The requirement is still 50 credit hours every three years, but those 50 hours must now include 30 hours from MGMA state, local or national learning, including at least 12 live hours. In addition to face-to-face events, attendance of a live- teleconference or real-time webinar also counts as live. The remaining 20 hours may come from either MGMA or qualifies outside sources.

    About the examinations

    • Multiple choice: Registration Fee $165
    A 175-item, multiple-choice test taken within three hours and 15 minutes. This exam assesses your on-the-job knowledge of the broad scope of group practice management principles and practices as described in the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management
    • Scenario: Registration Fee $165   
    Questions presented as multi-select, multiple choice, short answer item, or drag and drop matching that focus on critical skills/knowledge that a candidate would be expected to show in the described situation given within two hours. This exam assesses in-depth knowledge of medical practice management principles and issues, problem-solving and decision-making skill.

    Computerized exams locations


    ACMPE has partnered with Castle centers to offer approximately 500 exam sites. Once you register for an exam through the MGMA store and your eligibility has been confirmed, you will be provided with a user name and password that will allow you to select your exam location, date and time. Please note that you won't be able to schedule your exam appointment at a Castle testing site until you have submitted your registration fees and eligibility requirement.
